How to keep your natural hair defined

Defining your natural hair can be a challenging and rewarding process. It involves understanding your hair type and texture, and finding the right products and techniques to enhance and maintain its natural curl pattern.

Here are some steps to help you define your natural hair:

  1. Determine your hair type and texture.
The first step to defining your natural hair is to understand what type and texture of hair you have. Your hair type can be curly, coily or kinky. As well as a mixture of both hair types.

CURLY - With curly hair you don't need to be heavy handed with the product as it well weigh down your hair.
COILY - With coily hair you do need to apply more product than someone with curly hair. However you do not want to go overboard as it can cause your hair to become limp.
KINKY - With kinky you will need a lot of product to define your hair and keep it defined for a long period of time.

On the other hand, your hair texture refers to the thickness or fineness of each strand.  You're able to determine the texture by feeling your hair to determine if it is soft or coarse. If your hair is soft, you shouldn't be careful of how many products you are layering to define your curls. However, if it's coarse you can get away with layering multiple products (that work well together).

  2. Choose the right products.
The right products can make a big difference in defining your natural hair. Look for products that are formulated for your hair type and texture. You are looking for products with ingredients such as water, horsetail extract, aloe vera gel, oils, and butter. These ingredients will aid in hydrating your hair to keep your hair defined for a long time. As well as keep it moisturized to prevent breakage knots and tangles.

Finger Coiling - Take each kink/coil/curl and twist it using your finger. The twisting motion will encourage the hair to curl up. As well as, define
