How to Slay Your Wash And Go!

Instagram @curlzmatic It can be intimidating to trust the wash and go process to get the curls you dream about. The good news is that this technique is easy, you only need a few products, and literally anyone with curly hair can do it!   There are a few tips submitted from our Instagram followers  setting yourself up for a successful wash and go: "Work with soaking wet hair" - @ naturallyshundra   Keep a spray bottle nearby in case it starts to dry out. "Don’t touch your hair! Touching it = frizz  "- @ tinytoya  You want your hair to dry undisturbed otherwise you’re on the road to frizz town. "Great products are key. You can have a flawless application but if the products suck, your style will be terrible. Love your products ❤️" - @ pjacksone  You need good technique and good products to produce the results you want. We love our Grow Thick Oil  and Moisturizing Mist  as a base and Our Perfect Oils Curling Jelly  to set the curls.     In addition to choosing the right products and doing this on wet hair, you want to make sure that you’re using a technique that is going to work for your unique hair texture. This might be a bit of a trial and error process, but there is a technique for every curl type from loose to kinky

Rake and shake method
Choose a small portion of your hair. Rake through the section with your fingers to encourage clumping with your favorite curl definer. At the end of the last rake, stop before your fingers slide all the way through your hair, grasp the ends, and give your hair a few good shakes (away from your scalp). This helps to naturally distribute the curl and keep them from falling flat.

Shingling method In this method, once you’ve applied your leave-in, you take a small section of your hair (ensure that it’s wet!) and apply your curl definer by finger combing. When your curls begin to naturally separate, take one curl and smooth it down to the ends starting at your roots. Repeat for the rest of your hair. This method creates a lot of definition and reduces the chance of tangles.

Praying hands method With this method, instead of raking the curl-defining product through your hair like the last two methods, you rub it between the palms of your hands and apply by sliding your hair between your palms in a “prayer” hand position. This method reduces frizz and often results in a longer curl.   Hopefully this quick overview has helped give you to confidence to give the wash and go method a try.
